for Florence City Council

Thank you to the voters of the GREAT City of Florence    for another term on City Council!

Julie Metzger Aubuchon, O.D.
Florence City Council, 1999-2012
Vice Mayor

Dr. Metzger Aubuchon has a long and proud record of service to the citizens of Florence.  She has served on the Florence City Council since 1999.

Dr. Metzger has been an advocate for the business community and has been one of the very few business owners that have served on Florence City Council in the last 12 years. Her record stands for low taxes, maintaining property values, adequate public safety protection, safe roads and recreation for thriving families.

A few examples of this are:

Dr. Metzger Aubuchon has been a part of holding the line to ensure that the overall tax rate has not increased in the last 4 years.

Dr. Metzger Aubuchon and the councils in which she has served have been responsible for increasing the tax rolls by voluntarily annexing over 300 acres of property.

Dr. Metzger Aubuchon has been an advocate for business development. Florence added over 375 new jobs in 2010 including developments like ZF Steering and the re-development of Mall Road and in 2011, over 150 jobs will be added to Healthwarehouse.com She has worked on the City’s Planning and Zoning committee for over eight years.  Currently she serves as Chair of that committee.  The Planning and Zoning committee meets with potential developers to provide guidance and direction with regard to new developments which are both commercial and residential in nature.

Dr. Metzger Aubuchon is an advocate for “Green Living”. She has been active in the city’s Arbor Day Celebrations and encourages curbside recycling.

Being an advocate for our schools is yet another role that Dr. Metzger Aubuchon has embarked upon.  At her direction, regular contact with the superintendent of Boone County Schools and other key school administrators has been established.  One example of this collaboration is the National Prescription Drug Take-Back and Youth in Government Program.  The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Program keeps harmful prescription drugs out of the hands of children who may abuse them.
